Ninja Tricks

ACTIVITIES

Martial Arts Instruction

Invite a Martial Arts Instructor or an advanced student to talk about their training, the history and origin of their practice or a demonstration of basic moves.

Have more than one style of martial arts school in your area?  Invite them all and have them explain the difference in their styles!

Master, May I?

Play like "Captain, May I?"  (For Smaller groups of 10 or less)

Line the players up at a starting point, and select one child or adult to play the role of the master who stands at the finish.  The master gives a number and an way to advance forward to each player such as, "Josh, take 4 Karate Kicks forward."  Josh then must answer, "Master, may I?" to which the master responds, "Yes" and they bow to each other before Josh completes his assignment.  If the child does not ask permission before making a move, they must return to their previous position.  The first child to reach the master then takes over the role.

Play like "Simon Says"

Again, one child plays the master and assigns tasks for each player.  However, this time they don't have to be steps or reach the master.  Instead, if they don't ask for permission and bow before acting, they are out and must sit down and play continues until one child is remaining.

CRAFTS

Bendy Ninja Figure

Super fun and easy ninja action figure.  Boys and girls will enjoy creating different poses for their ninja made from pipe cleaners and straws. See step-by-step instructions on the blog Frugal Fun 4 Boys.

Ninja Juggling Balls PAGE 183

Check out the demonstration and designs on the blog Red Ted Art.

For an easier way to fill the balloons, don't cut the first balloon.  Instead, funnel the desired ammount of sand into a water bottle (1/4th to 1/3 cup and then mark the fill line with a marker).  Stretch the balloon over the lid of the bottle, flip it over and squeeze gently.  You can then cut part of the balloon top off or for a more secure ball, duct tape the end of the balloon down.  Cover the ball two more times with cut balloons.

Ninja Balloon Swords

If you are ever going to try twisting balloons, this is the object to learn.  Super easy fun.
